Katherine Irene Burleson

Katherine Irene Burleson (Dolman), 69, loving daughter, mother, wife and Gigi, “entered the pearly gates”, as her dad would say, on December 6th, 2024. She was born on February 12th, 1955 in Pueblo, Colorado. Survived by her dedicated husband of 49 years, Lynn Burleson; faithful son, Clayton Burleson; wonderful daughter, Amber (Matt) Carleo; loving grandsons, Logan and Roman Carleo; sister, Collette Chorak; sister-in-law Lynda Vandiver; numerous nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends. Kathy was preceded in death by her loving parents, John E. & Vivian N. Dolman; sister, Celeste Melton; in-laws, Lynn R. & Lillian D. Burleson, as well as many other relatives she held dear to her heart. Kathy graduated from South High School in 1973. She worked various jobs until finding a home at San Isabel Electric Association, where she was devoted employee retiring after 37+ years. Throughout her career, she gained many friends and memories that she deeply cherished. Kathy loved sharing her time and work experiences with her family, providing an amazing example of hard work ethics and drive to support her family. She was completely committed to family and loved all of them, with all her heart as she would state time and time again. She was the oldest of three sisters and would often reminisce on her time growing up. She loved visits with her Masa, cousins, her parents, and loved to share stories of these times. She held deeply to old memories and items, as she loved the nostalgia of her time growing up. Her children and grandchildren were her biggest joy, spoiling them endlessly with anything their hearts would desire. She sacrificed everything for her family. She was the rock of the family, lifting up all around her with her deepest love and support. She took great pride and time whenever possible, but especially after retirement to care for Logan and Roman, with whom she proudly taught and shared her knowledge. Kathy shared the best sayings and advice with all of us, as she always looked to the bright side, even when life was a challenge. She was the best listener in the family; always being there to comfort and lend an ear to all in need, which cannot be expressed enough. She adored her travels – whether it was early in life with Lynn – sneaking off to concerts, camping, and skiing – or the abundant family vacations each year with her husband and children. She lived life to the fullest, worked hard to play hard; creating unforgettable experiences. The fondest being all the road trips spent with windows down, feet up on the dash, snapping and grooving to the best soundtrack we could hear. She loved her family trips to California, Florida, Texas, New Mexico, Mexico, Nevada (many times to Las Vegas of course), Cripple Creek and especially the mountains, again & again. Other special trips included New York, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Arizona, and a cruise to the Caribbean Islands. She truly cherished these memories, none to be forgotten. She eagerly traveled, until she could no longer. She had incredible enthusiasm for new experiences, going to restaurants, gambling, attending live experiences, and particularly the special moments of simply hanging out with her loved ones any chance she had. She was sharp witted and competitive; loved a good game of Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and relaxing watching her favorite Bravo and Hallmark shows – which she always loved to catch up on with her daughter. She adored gatherings and hosting parties and loved getting dressed up with all of her beautiful outfits and jewelry. Kathy never failed to make sure everyone was fed well at the countless gatherings she hosted. She loved cooking for her family and friends, passing on some of the best recipes to be used year after year. Above all, Kathy was a fighter. A Champion. She experienced many challenges and traumas over her lifetime, yet continued to persevere throughout. She shared her view of positive thinking each and every day, which has been bestowed upon her family, children, grandchildren and friends. She was the most giving and thoughtful person, and remained strong minded, even when most would have given in. She overcame many difficulties with her health, which many medical professionals saw as impossible and ultimately a miracle. Lynn and Clayton saved her life in 2023. The family was blessed with her presence for another year and a half. They are unbelievable blessed and thankful for that time. Lynn and Clayton were able to care for her during the hardest time of her life; Amber supported them with everything she had as well, providing unaccountable, “fabulous” meals, as Kathy would say. Best Team. Special thanks from the family to Dr. Gaide, Wendy, Hazel, and all the other medical professionals who took care of her. Kathy touched many lives, had the absolute biggest heart – which all will attest to - and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
