Gerald (Jerry) Frank Barbera died peacefully in Pueblo, Co on 11/14/17 in Pueblo, CO at the age of 88. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Betty Ann Barbera, and his children: Patti Blasing, CO; Anna Marie (Robert) Coatney, PA; Yvette (Thomas) Briggs, CO; George (Sandi) Barbera, AZ; Michael (Fran) Barbera, CO; and Steven (Kimberly) Barbera, AZ; sister Marie Lein, CO; brother-in-law Rev. Msgr. Emil Wesselsky, TX; sister-in-law Dorothy (Bruce) Card, TX; grandchildren: Debbie Brandenburg, Laura Blasing, Brock (Amy) Blasing, Kevin Coatney, Garrett (Katharine) Coatney, Jacob Coatney, Kristin Coatney, Sean (Naomi) Briggs, Paul Briggs, Laura (Rick III) Portman, Sara Briggs, Christopher (Alexis) Barbera, Jonathan (Anna) Barbera, Brian (Nicole) Barbera, Brianna Barbera, Michaela Barbera, Sydney Barbera, Joseph (Nathan) Weaver, Kendall Barbera; step grandchildren Mallory (Zachary) Fagerstedt, Lauren (Aaron) Krakow, Olivia Navarro, great-grandchildren: Karis Blasing, Mackenzie Blasing, Jackson Blasing, Paisley Blasing, Liam Coatney, Kyle Briggs, Jason Briggs, Lydia Briggs, Ryan Briggs, Truth Portman, Luca Barbera, Emilia Barbera, Anthony Barbera; and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Anthony & Olive Barbera; in-laws Emil & Pauline Wesselsky; brother-in-law Joseph Lein; and son-in-law Jack Blasing. Gerald was born on October 19, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to the proud parents Anthony & Olive Barbera. He began working with his father at age 15 for Barbera Sign Co. in Trinidad, CO. Moved to Pueblo, CO in 1945. He graduated from Central High School in Pueblo, CO in 1947. He served in the US Marine Corps Jan. 1951 - July 1952. He married Betty Ann Wesselsky on August 4, 1958 in Shiner, TX. He was a sign maker using his artistic talent for glass blowing and was owner of the family business, Barbera Sign Company, taking pride in his work. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography and trapshooting. He was a loving husband and father. He will be dearly missed. Services will be held at the Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church, 300 Goodnight Ave in Pueblo, CO.; Rosary Vigil Monday, Nov. 20 at 6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 10 am at St. Therese Catholic Church. Interment – Roselawn Cemetery. Reception to follow at St. Therese Church in the Saint Joseph room. Memorial contributions can be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice or Shrine of St. Therese Building Fund.
