December 18, 1958 - January 25, 2021
Dr. Rodney E. Seal, 62, ascended to heaven on January 25, 2021 after a short but valiant battle against cancer. He was surrounded by family as they said their goodbyes and helped him pass peacefully. Rod was a devoted and loving son to Emmett and Marge Seal, of Pueblo. He was an amazing father to Beth (Nick) Genova, Wes (Kristyn) Seal, both of Pueblo, and Jessica (Wes) Richardson, of Alamosa, and an adored “Papa” to nine beloved grandsons: Brett, Wyatt, Jace, Jakob, Blake, Mason, Brecken, Luke and Wade (due in April to Jessica). Rod was a devout and loving husband to Melonie, his late-in-life rekindled love, and step-father to Annie Housman and Sarah (Miles) Lucero. He was a beloved uncle to Chris (Marie) Orr and Jason (Lacey ) Orr, both of Oklahoma. Also survived by brother and sisters-in-law, Michael Sheard, Kathleen Sheard, and Colleen Sheard Housman, his self-proclaimed brother and best friend, Jim (Dianne) Korber and mother of his children, Betsy Walker. He is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Vikki Seal Orr, grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles. Rod was a graduate of Centennial High School (1977) and Colorado State University- Fort Collins (1985), where he earned a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. He began his career at Mesa Veterinary Clinic, treating large animals and for the past 25 years has served Pueblo through his business, Veterinary House Calls. He fully embraced being a Veterinarian, building strong relationships with his clients and caring for their four-legged family members. Rod enjoyed history and travel, bicycling, snowmobiling, college football, riding horses, working with his family at The Ranch and climbing Colorado’s 14’ers. He planned many adventures for his family and friends, and created memories for them that will last forever. Rod truly strived to live his steadfast faith in God everyday, which was evident in his unfaltering integrity and exemplary character. He was truly loved by many. He will be immeasurably and forever missed. Visitation Tuesday, February 2, 12:00pm – 2:00pm at Roselawn Chapel . Graveside Burial service 2:30 at Roselawn Cemetery. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers or food, please consider sharing a memory of Rod with a card to the family or online at roselawnpueblo.org.
