June C. Castro

June 15, 1926 - November 25, 2020

June Constance Liese Hogan Castro, 94 of Pueblo died peacefully on Nov 25, 2020 at the Belmont Lodge Center. She was the youngest of four daughters born to Howard and Bessie Munn Liese on June 15, 1926 near Rowe, Massachusetts. She often recounted the joyful memories of growing up on the family farm in New England. She graduated from Lancaster High in 1943 and attended college at La Sierra College in California. June had a varied career including being a dental assistant, owning a yarn shop, restaurant and bar, and supervising the food and service care centers in Walsenburg and Sierra Vista, Arizona. She was active in her church. She enjoyed music, watching wildlife and sharing a good meal with family and friends. June was an expert knitter and crocheter. She knit the sweaters to be used in the pattern pictures and for the Brunswick Yarn Company. She also taught many in 4H to knit and crochet. June will be long remembered for the many beautiful handmade items that she created. Preceded in death by her parents; husband of 42 years, Joseph “Lee” Castro; sisters, Dorothy Liese Anderson, Harriet Liese Abbott, and Audrey Liese Rupracht; and ex-husband, Michael Hogan. Survived by her son, Jerry (Debbie) Hogan, of Spearfish, SD; daughters, Darlene (Skip) Moreau, of Cotopaxi, CO, Kathy (David) Torres, of Pueblo, CO, and Virginia Castro, of Salida; five grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and step grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, make a joyful noise, do something productive and have a piece of chocolate. A Celebration of Life will be held sometime in 2021.
