Erik A Calderon
April 10, 1991 - December 9, 2020
On behalf of our family, we would like to begin by thanking everyone that’s here and for those who have sent their condolences. We have received countless phone calls, texts, flowers, meals, visits, and thoughts and prayers. They have been both comforting during this difficult time and have been a reminder of the bonds that Erik had with so many others. Erik was very outgoing and adventurous. He loved to explore life. He enjoyed the simple things in life like going fishing, videogames, and sharing time with family. His favorite way to pass his time was by pulling pranks on everyone (including strangers), to say witty remarks, and his dark humor was well known. His most recent way of conveying messages to his family was through Spanish songs with the intent to make his parents cry because of the deep messages. (“Mi Gran Senora”- Traviezoz de la Zierra, “Para Ti Papa”- Ulices Chaidez) Erik was well-versed in his knowledge of the world; from the classroom to every-day life, he always had an answer or solution. His resourcefulness comes from him being first-generation American. His Mexican traditions always stood loud and proud. Most recently, he was passionate about exceling in his work life. He created a second family for himself and his father to grow with an up and coming excavating company. Although he had a promising future, after 29 years of life he was called home. “Sometimes you need to feel the pain and sting of defeat to activate the real passion and purpose that god predestined inside of you.” -Erik shared his deepest messages through quotes and songs. This was a quote that he had left written on our fridge for about two years.
