Donald E Thornton

March 20, 1938 - July 28, 2018

Donald E. Thornton, 80 of Pueblo, born March 20, 1938. Passed away July 28, 2018. Preceded in death by his parents, Webster and Lela Thornton, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters. Survived by the love of his life Anna Mae (Mendicello), four children Charlie (Jannell) Thornton, Dawnta (Terry) Weber, Pam (Jack) Everhart, Alison Thornton (Jason Griffiths). 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, sisters Vivian Tway, Judy Cornelius, Ellen Leeper, Letha Martin, brother Deland Thornton and many nieces, nephews and friends. Don retired from Double J Meats in 2003. He loved working on cars and dreamed of owning an older Mercedes. He achieved that goal and acquired a 1979 Mercedes 450SL. But his passion was photography. He loved taking pictures and traveling to photograph many sites. His work was once chosen as the cover for New Mexico Magazine. You can see his black and white images at the Pueblo Convention Center. He taught photography for many years at the Sangre de Cristo Art Center. He was a member of the Sons of Italy #2738 and Southern Colorado Photography Society. Cremation has taken place at Roselawn Crematory. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday August 2nd at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00am. Inurnment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
