Betty, aka Elizabeth “Liz”, Susan Gabbert-Schwartzkopf, 93, was born February 7, 1927, in Olathe, Colorado, to Andrew E. Watters and Mary J. Platt. Betty commonly known as Elizabeth “Liz”, passed away on Friday, March 13. Betty left Colorado in 1967 and moved to Long Beach California where she met and married Herman Schwartzkopf in 1968. Betty then started college and earned her Master’s degree at Long Beach State College. Betty and Herm lived on a houseboat several years and enjoyed fishing at sea and Catalina Island. Betty and Herm traded in the houseboat for a motor home and traveled the United States and loved fishing in Alaska. She resided at Bonaventure in Pueblo West, Colorado, at the time of her passing. She is survived by son, George Gabbert (Nancy); daughter, Tomma Parco (James R Parco); and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Schwartzkopf in 1995; great grandson John Ferris; and great granddaughter, Rebecca Elizabeth Ferris. Liz was an active member of Pueblo West Newcomers. Liz loved to travel and went on many cruises. Liz loved to square dance in her younger years. She even went on quilt cruises. She was an avid quilter with many quilts entered in the Colorado State Fair winning many ribbons. Liz loved playing bridge. She was an active choir member of Church of the Ascension, 18th and Grand Avenue. Many thanks to the patient, caring care takers at Bonaventure and Sangre de Cristo Hospice. Interment will be at the Columbarium at Episcopal Church of the Holy Ascension. At this time no public services will be held. Private services will be held at the Columbarium where the church bells will ring for her one more time. Memorials may be made in her name at Episcopal Church of the Holy Ascension, 18th and Grand Avenue.
