Sophie "Little Grams" Dolores Vigil

Sophie Dolores Vigil affectionately known as “Little Grams” was born June 26, 1943 in Trinidad, Colorado and went to be with the Lord on October 3, 2024. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Benito; parents, Joe and Stella Trujillo; siblings, Margaret, Betty, and Joe. Sophie has left to cherish her memory, children, Lawrence (Loretta), Bonnie (Robbie), Sophie Christine (Jonathan), and Adrian (Monica); grandchildren, Dennis, Daylene (Marco), DaeSha, Dominick, Dezmond (Alyssa), and Sixto; great-grandchildren, MaKayla, Kaden, Ruben, Madisen, and Maliyah; siblings, Lillian, Benji (Mary Lou), Gracie (Rudy), and Rose (John). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews extended family and friends. Sophie attended Pueblo County high School and worked for a short time at a Laundromat. She went on to work in the chili fields where she me the love of her life, Benito. With them it was love at first sight; they were married on September 19, 1964. They moved to Denver and raised 4 wonderful children and lived a beautiful life together. Sophie was an avid sports fan, especially the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. She knew all of the players’ names, and stats and would love to talk sports with anyone. As a young woman she played softball, and later taught her children how to play the game that she loved so much. Broncos Sundays were her favorite, the family would all come over to watch the game and have a big pot of “Little Grams” famous menudo. Her cooking will be remembered fondly by her family and friends, such as the best homemade tortillas, sopapillas, empanadas, and sweet rice for the holidays. Sophie had a sweet yet unexpected sense of humor, and she always had the best jokes. She would lighten any dark room with her humor, and smile. Among her many talents was playing the guitar. She would love to play and sing, one of her favorites to perform was “Angel Baby” and everyone would love to hear her sing. ”Kind and Welcoming” are words that a close friend used to describe her. She also mentioned how no matter how long it had been since they had seen each other, Sophie would welcome them in and treat them with as much love as she ever had. Sophie was an inspiration of kindness, devotion, humor and love, she will be loved and missed by all her family and friends.
