Samuel Magana Jr

It is with great sadness that the family of Samuel Magana Jr. announce his passing on January 10th 2025. Samuel was born on April 05, 1944 in Las Animas, CO Samuel is preceded in death by his Father, Samuel Magana Sr, His Mother, Barbara Magana, Brothers, Francisco (Frank) Magana, Robert Magana, Sisters Esther Magana, Bernita Magana, Phyllis Sanchez, Mary Rodriguez and his Son, James (Jimmy) Walton. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Garcia, his children, Sandra Magana-Juvera (Paul), Samuel Pete Magana (Angie), Allen Magana (Angela), Anthony Silva (Myra), Vicky Licon, Nathan Magana and Mitchell Walton. Samuel has many Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren that were so very near and special to him. Each of his family members felt the special love and gratitude he had for them. Samuel was very devoted and proud of his family. He blessed each of us with a special nick-name. Samuel was a Staff Sargent in the Army in both the Vietnam and the Gulf Wars. He worked for the Veterans Administration for more than 20 years. He was proud of his service to this great nation and took such pride in supporting his “troopies;” guiding them through the perils of war. He was a beloved baseball coach to many young men to whom he had a very positive impact in their lives. He never missed an opportunity to use a situation as a teaching moment to the young individuals that crossed his path. Samuel had a heart of gold, a smile that lit up a room and a wicked sense of humor. A special thank you to the many Doctors and Nurses at Parkview Medical Hospital, the Joni Fair Hospice House and all family and friends that showed up with so much compassion and support during this difficult time. We have scheduled Daddy's Military Funeral on Friday, January 24th 2025. at 2:00 p.m. He will be buried with full military honors at Pikes Peak National Cemetery 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80925. We are inviting all family members to attend in his honor. Sandi will have an open house after the burial at her home at 2051 Stanbridge Ct. Colorado Springs, CO 80918. Dad's celebration of life will be held in Pueblo on Saturday January 25th, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Eagles Club 1615 S Prairie Ave #2310, Pueblo, CO 81005. This event is open to all family and friends. Please bring your special memories to share.
