Sadie E. Lujan

It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Sadie (Senida) Erlinda Lujan (Vargas), who peacefully departed in her sleep on the evening of August 16, 2025 in her home of Pueblo West, Colorado. She was 90 years young. Born in La Madera, New Mexico on May 5, 1935, Sadie was the cherished eldest daughter of Juan and Soledad Vargas. Her life was a testament to the love, creativity, and selfless service that she spread throughout her community. Sadie was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Her warmth and generosity extended to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. A true talent, Sadie’s entrepreneurial ambitions blossomed in the worlds of sewing and cake decorating. Her artistic spirit overflowed into painting which led her to win countless awards, state titles, and ribbons at subsequent state fairs. Her dedication to all of her plants transformed her surroundings with the vibrant life that she would consistently exude. Sadie found immense happiness in her sewing, painting, cooking, baking, extraordinary “green thumb”, and family photographs; above all, she cherished spending time with her family. Sadie’s commitment to her community was evident in her active participation in various groups. She was a faithful member of her SDA Church Family, enjoyed the camaraderie of the Red Hat Ladies, cherished her time with the Lunch Bunch, the Senior Center Group, pursued her passions in Art Classes, and Exercise groups. Always one to lend a helping hand, Sadie generously volunteered her time and talents to others. She lovingly made burritos for the local Leatherneck Boxing Club in Leadville, Colorado and created countless memorable cakes for weddings, birthdays, graduations, funerals, and baptisms. Her sewing business flourished, with her skillful hands hemming cheerleading outfits, alter prom dresses at a moment’s notice, fixing pants, and sewing patches for the local police department. She even spent countless hours lovingly creating matching outfits for her children, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Sadie’s unwavering dedication to her craft and community touched countless lives. Sadie is survived by her loving husband, Roy Lujan; her children Denise Lujan, Dennis (Wendy) Lujan, Cindi (Dan) Maynard and her daughter-in-law, Gay Vierra. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her grandchildren: Robert, Ryan, Jenilee, Steven, Amanda, Gessica, Genelle, Gabrielle, Heather, Caleb, and Jacob. Her great-grandchildren: Jason, Logan, Alyssa, Lynneya, Braiden, Keylei, Makenna, Aubrie, Kendall, and Lennan.. Her great-great-grandchild: Sophie, She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Soledad Vargas; her brothers Alex and Ben Flores; her son, George Lujan; her grandson Dennis Jr. Lujan; and her nephews Johnny Vargas and Randy Flores. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 25th, at 1:00 PM at the Pueblo First Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 3910 O'Neil Avenue, Pueblo, Colorado. Pallbearers will be Derrick Lujan, Mike Flores, Robert Trujillo, Ryan Trujillo, Reggie Vargas, and Victor Vargas. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in honor of Sadie Lujan as a Tribute Gift in her name towards Sangre de Cristo Community Care, 1920 Valley Drive, Pueblo, Colorado, 81008. Sadie’s vibrant spirit, unwavering love, and selfless devotion to others will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will be cherished forever. The Lujan family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the family, friends, communities, and services that softened the heartache of this loss.
