Richard Sam "Dickie" Sanchez

Richard Sam “Dickie” Sanchez, 79 was born on September 8, 1945 in Walsenburg, Colorado and went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2025 in Pueblo, Colorado. He is preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Diane Marie (Sandoval) Sanchez; parents, Rosenaldo and Stella Sanchez; siblings, Ed Sanchez and Kathleen Suarez. Dickie is survived by his children, Richard Daniel “Rick” (Carol) Sanchez and Sacha Sanchez; grandchildren, Johnathan (Sabrina) Sanchez, Nika Sanchez, Darion Sanchez, D’Layni Sanchez-Jones, Zarek Sanchez, Deion’dre Sanchez-Jones, Aaliyah, Amaris and Jessica and Tomas; great-grandchildren, Lorenzo Sanchez, Ivory Sanchez, X’Zayvian Sanchez, Indigo Sanchez, Darion Sanchez Jr “DJ”, Charlie “Nunu”, Maliyah, Kai and “Baby X’Zias” on the way. He is also survived by his brothers, Michael Sanchez and Dan Suarez; sister-in-law, Kathy Sanchez; aunt Berlinda Sanchez; step-children, Randi and Scott; as well as numerous step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Moving to Pueblo in the 1950’s to follow his father for work led Dickie to graduate from Centennial High School. He went on to enlist in the US Army in 1966 and was Honorably discharged in July 1972. After the Army he began work at the then, ABEX Corporation, which changed to the CF&I Steel Mill and is now EVRAZ. He retired with over 30 years of dedicated service. . He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, he would light up when he saw them. He would host BBQ’s and swimming parties just to have everyone together. Dickie also enjoyed fishing, camping, and taking trips to Cripple Creek and Las Vegas. He was a n avid Los Angeles Lakers and Las Vegas Raiders fan, long before their move to Vegas. If anyone in the family couldn’t find our dad/grandpa we knew all we had t do was call or go by the Beer Barrell and there he’d be. He was a regular there and they would all affectionately call him “Sanch” when he was there. His family describes him as the rock of the family and the best dad and grandpa anyone could ever as for. He took care of anyone that needed it, and was like a dad to them all. He was a fighter and never quit. He will be forever loved and deeply missed by all of his family and friends.
