Melvin Eugene Vaught Sr

Melvin Eugene Vaught Sr. 88, of Pueblo was born February 14, 1936, and went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Alice Vaught; brothers, Jim Vaught, Ron Vaught, Ed Vaught, and Gary Vaught; sisters, Viola Postlewait, and Alice Messenger. Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Betty Vaught; children, Deborah (Charlie) Vaught DeHerrera, Gene (Debbie) Vaught, and Annette (Bonner) Brice; grandchildren, Melaney Miller, Jessica (Elijah) Lalond, Bridgett Vaught, Beau (Jaclyn) Vaught, Adam (Aubrey) Brice, and Megan (Ben) O’Brien; great-grandchildren, Leigha (Gerald), Kimberly (Justin), Elvira, Brooklyn, Levi, and baby boy O’Brien; great-great-grandchildren, Kevin, Trey, and Zoey; sisters, Sharon (Vinton) Simpson, and Cheryl Fernau; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Melvin was a lifetime Puebloan and spent over 60 years on the Mesa in the home he built himself for his family. He loved woodworking, fishing, and camping. Melvin loved to travel with his wife Betty any chance they had; he especially loved their winter trips South. Together Melvin and Betty raised a big, beautiful family. He was a “Jack of All Trades'' and there was nothing he couldn’t fix. Melvin was always there for his children to help with their own projects and would even have a few of his own for them. Melvin enjoyed watching Westerns and Football when he had the chance. Melvin's greatest love was his family, and his favorite time with them was their monthly pizza nights. The whole family would come together and enjoy pizza together but most important is the quality time they spent with each other. Betty remembers how great of a team she and Melvin made and all of the wonderful memories they made together. Melvin's children will never forget the work ethic, love, and the ability to live their best lives because of his knowledge and guidance. He will be forever loved and deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him. The family would like to thank Bonaventure, CenterCare Hospice, A Place at Home, Cynthia Jiron and Jenny Martin for the incredible care they gave to Melvin.
