Mary Doraida "Mary Dee" Otero

Maria Doraida Otero (Mary Dee) 78, of Pueblo went to be with the Lord March 6, 2018. Born October 16, 1939 in Farisita, CO to the union of Saulo Peralta and Susana Read Peralta who precede her in death. She joins in heaven her husband, Melisendro Otero Sr.: grandchildren, Melisendro W. Otero Ill, and Erica S. Cortez; as well as daughter-in-law, Heather L. Pickles-Otero. Survived by children; Melisendro A. Otero Jr., Yvonne (Chuck) Roldan, Geraldine (Robert) Mann and, Jason (Mary) Otero; Grandchildren, Alexander and Catherine Otero, Chuckie and Mary Roldan, Sarah (Joel) Meza, Justice Mann, Donavon Mann and Araceli Otero; Great granddaughters, Selena and, Giana Cortez-Melban and Elyana Meza. Mary Dee was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She retired from the U.S. Government Printing Office. Survived by Siblings Dee (LaRoy) Ullery, Dorothy Peralta, Cecelia Guerrero, Victoria (Ed) Schmidt, Frank (Terri) Peralta, Tony (Shelly) Peralta, Ruben Medina, Barbara (Leo) Solis, Jay (Rose)Sierra, Irene (Joe) Mendoza, Nadine (Mike Peralta) Carol (Lonnie) Garcia, Rebecca Peralta, Nancy Peralta and Veronica Peralta. In-Laws Lena Medina, Rose Jewell, Lydia Zamarripa, MaryAnn Jaquez and Marina (TJ) Marin. God children Julie Patton, Tina Medina, Gloria Martinez, David Vigil. Also survived by numerous family and friends. Preceded in death by brothers Silvano Peralta and Joseph Peralta, sister Loretta Medina, step mother Emily Peralta, in-laws Eduardo and Elena Otero, sister-in-law Mary Ellen Simonson, brothers in law Ben Otero, John Medina, James Jewell, Fred Zamarripa, Joe Guerrero and special nephew Michael Peralta as well as many family and friends she loved. Mary Dee was known to be a strong woman who was a proud steelworker's wife before starting a career of her own. She was an avid reader, excellent cook, seamstress and gardener in her spare time. Upon her retirement she volunteered at the Pueblo Zoo gift shop and enjoyed bowling with her friends. Her family history as homesteaders of Colorado and founders of our great country made her especially proud. Our family would like to thank Dr. Harry Keefe and his staff, R.N. Angela and the staff of Parkview's Neuro ICU, those who cared for her at Villa Pueblo and her home health care friends. Visitation will be 9:00am to 9:30am, followed by Recitation of the Rosary and Funeral Mass at 10:00am at The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Wed, March 14, 2018.
