Marjorie "GG" Cody

Marjorie M Cody 85, passed away on October 23, 2023, in Pueblo Colorado she was affectionately known to all as “GG”. She was born February 28,1938 in Coffeeville, Kansas. Marjorie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years Floyd Cody and her parents Florence and Burrel Longgrear, 4 brothers, 1 sister. Survived by children Sharon Siegel, Steve (Joan) Cody, Wade Cody, Mike Cody; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sister Sue Longgrear, brother Charles (Nancy) Longgrear. Marjorie attended Centennial High School, Pueblo, CO until after the ninth grade when she married, she earned her GED a few years later for which she was very proud of. Marjorie was a hard-working woman all of her life, she started her first job at the tender age of 14 years old; her last employment was manager of the employee and family cafeteria at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, CO, from which she retired when she was 70 years old. She brought a lot of ideals and innovation to this position throughout the many years. She loved and respected the many employees she worked with and retired with a heavy heart. Marjorie enjoyed many adventures with the love of her life Floyd Cody exploring Colorado towns, mountains, lakes and camping sites. She was a wonderful cook and baker making lavish meals for holidays and special occasions for her family and friends. She was a talented self-taught cake decorator making wedding, anniversaries, birthday and special occasions cakes, bringing joy to those for whom they were made. She loved researching genealogy to fifth and sixth generation of our family, loving the information she found and the challenge of the research she did, she spent hours gardening and taking great pleasure in the beauty she created in her yard. Many neighbors would stop and tell her how beautiful her yard was, which gave her great pleasure and pride. She also loved to sew, she was amazing at what she could do, she would take measurements of the person she was sewing for and a picture or drawing of what they wanted and would be able to create the most beautiful dresses, costumes, and wedding dress. In her later years as her eyes began to fail her, she commented many times how much she missed sewing. Marjorie was a loving woman who enjoyed her family and friends greeting every with a warm smile, loving heart and kindness, she brought love and joy to those that knew her, always ready with kind words, helping hand or teaching. She will always have a special place in our hearts and be greatly missed by family and friends.
