SUNRISE Walsenburg, Colorado September 20th, 1929 – SUNSET Pueblo West, Colorado September 20th, 2025 . Lifelong Coloradan, Marie Evelyn Wilkins of Pueblo West completed her 96-year earth journey on September 20th, 2025, to join her parents Theodore Roybal and Flora Atencio Roybal; her two brothers, Joseph & Oscar Roybal; and two sisters, Alice Suchi and Christine Dickson. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 74 years, Gilbert G. Wilkins, January 7th, 2023 . Evelyn passed peacefully at Cappella of Pueblo West Care facility surrounded by her family and dedicated health care team after her 3-year journey grappling with Alzheimer’s disease. Up until the end Evelyn maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, and appreciation of her family’s love and her many friends. She expressed gratitude for her long life full of wonderful and varied experiences with a deep appreciation of the outdoors. Evelyn was dedicated to her family as her husband’s career led them to locations across the globe. Through the years, she resided in Washington State, Michigan, Hawaii and Germany (her favorite) before returning to her beautiful Colorado. Through all the relocations, Evelyn was the family anchor and ensured a nurturing and loving home existed at each location. She was a lifelong learner, well before the rise of Google. She loved her encyclopedias and had a constant thirst to expand her knowledge by exploring topics of interest. Evelyn’s life is encapsulated by her strong sense of Faith, Family, Flowers (primarily roses), and a lifelong support of the Democratic party. She leaves her loving family, sister, Cathy Lozano of Sacramento, California; son, Glen (Carol) Wilkins of Pueblo West, Colorado; daughter, Shirley (James) Hedges of Orange Park, Florida, daughter, PJ Wilkins (Francis Anthony – Tony) Bell of Eagle River, Alaska, son, Randal (Mary Ann) Wilkins of Roseville, Michigan. Additionally, she leaves many grandchildren and great grandchildren residing in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Washington, Taiwan, and Toronto Canada, along with many nieces and nephews, and the recent addition of 4 great- great -granddaughters. Rosary at 9:30am, followed by a brief eulogy and Mass at 10:00am, Thur, Oct 2, 2025 at St. Joseph Parish 1145 S. Aspen Road, Pueblo CO 81006.
