Margarita "Peggy" Thomas Hovet

Margarita “Peggy” Thomas, 75 of Vineland was born on December 30th, 1949, in Pueblo CO. She departed this life peacefully on September 24th, 2025, after a long and hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Leighton Hovet; parents, Tony “Legs” and Esther (Colian) Thomas; sister, Patricia (Chuck) Dionisio; in-laws, Judy (Fly) Hovet and Loren Hovet. Survived by sons, Brandon (Bobbie Jo) Hovet of Brighton, CO and Nathan Hovet of Vineland; sister, Toni Sue (Randy) Reeves of Pueblo West; and sister-in-law, Annalee Crumb of Cotopaxi; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; special friends, Jokay Cozzetto and Linda Centa. Her pride and joy were her two grandchildren, Ben (Sarah) Hovet of Aurora, CO and Brooke Hovet of Littleton, CO. Peg was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She took pride in her yard populated with hundreds of flowers, an obsession that lasted for decades. She worked for many years at her parents” produce market (Thomas Produce). She always greeted customers with a familiar smile. In later years she owned and operated a house cleaning service, Sunshine Girls. Peg was also involved in the political scene in Pueblo, winning awards for her dedicated service and countless hours helping many local politicians in their campaign efforts. Her ultimate love was cooking and baking various Italian cookies and pastries keeping the Italian traditions alive. She loved cooking up her delicious spaghetti and meatballs for her family and friends to enjoy. She often helped with St. Joseph’s Church at their Annual Festival and various spaghetti dinners. Peg was known for hosting fun family events especially on New Year’s Eve and Fourth of July. She was an avid CO Rockies fan. She looked forward to baseball season every year and drove to Denver several times to take her grandkids to Rockies games. Viewing will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home on Thursday, October 9th from 4-6 p.m. A Celebration of Life will take place at Roselawn Chapel with interment following on Friday, October 10th at 11:00 a.m. A reception following services will be held at her family home 37055 Hwy. 50 east The family requests in lieu of flowers to make donations to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in her name. Please feel free to wear purple in honor of her beloved CO Rockies.
