James Donald Pavlick

James Donald Pavlick passed away on February 11, 2025, at the age of 79 at Spanish Peaks Veterans Nursing Home in Walsenburg, Colorado where he was temporarily residing. Growing up in Milwaukee and Hales Corners Wisconsin area, he attended Hales Corners Lutheran School and Wisconsin State University in Madison and went on to graduate from Wisconsin State University in Eau Claire in 1969. In 1970 Jim enlisted in the Unites States Army. After Basic and Advanced Individual Training, he completed Office Candidate School to become a 1st, Lieutenant. He was then stationed at Sixth Army Headquarters at the Presidio in San Francisco, California as Military Police. He served there until his discharge in December 1971. Jim was employed by the City of Pompano Beach, Florida where he worked as the Director of Public Works. He retired at the age of 53, with over 26 years of service and began a new phase in his life. He and his wife Georgia traveled full-time in their RV from 2001 to 2015. Until they found their retirement home, a cabin in the Walsenburg\La Veta area of Southeast Colorado, then traveled part-time for a few years. He is preceded in death by his mother, Amber Rose Traxel Pavlick; father, Donald George Pavlick and sister, Jean Pavlick Weiss. Jim is survived by his loving wife of over 52 years, Georgia Riley Pavlick; nephews, Shawn (Allegra) Weiss and their two daughters of New Mexico, Brandon (Anne) Weiss and their son, of Colorado; also, their daughter, of Wyoming. He is also survived by numerous fun-loving cousins throughout the US. Parkinson’s Disease was not an easy life for him during the past few years. The Parkinson’s Support Group in Pueblo was a tremendous help and support for us. He is loved by relatives as well as many dear friends and neighbors who will miss his sense of humor and loving, kind ways. A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held 10am-2pm Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Delaney Hall at St. Mary Catholic Church in Walsenburg, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that a donation be made to your favorite Charity or Health Organization or to the 3rd Annual Parkinson’s 5k Walk. This walk will be held May 17, 2025, at the Pueblo Arkansas Riverwalk. Jim was a proud participant for both the 1st and 2nd walks.
