Evelyn A. Alderson

Evelyn Alderson, 81, passed away suddenly at her home on October 21, 2016. She was born Avelina Rodriguez on November 10, 1934 in Pueblo, Colorado, the youngest of six children born to parents Lina Carrizalez Rodriguez and Esteban Rodriguez. A lifelong Pueblo resident, Evelyn was raised in the Bessemer area. She attended Minnequa and Bessemer Elementary, Keating Junior High and graduated from Central High School. Evelyn was employed by Sears for over 30 years, and spent many years as primary caregiver for her mother before her mother’s passing in 1992. Later that year she married John Alderson and they shared a wonderful life together until his death in 1998. Evelyn was a faithful member of Our Lady of Assumption and , later Saint Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. She kept an immaculate home and yard, and throughout life enjoyed swimming, bowling, traditional Mexican music, and travels to Mexico for vacation and to visit family. Evelyn loved pets, especially her dog Shine, and she took care of numerous stray cats in her neighborhood. Evelyn was a proud member of both the Central Wildcats Alumni Group and the Sears Retirement Group until it disbanded and her water aerobics communities at both the Y.M.C.A and Y.W.C.A were an integral part of her life. Evelyn was proceeded in death by her parents, Lina and Esteban Rodriguez husband John and siblings Hortencia “Tenne” Saldana, Esteban “Steve” Rodriguez and Guillermo “William” Rodriguez. She is survived by sister Blasa Rivera and brother Jesus “Jess” Rodriguez both of Pueblo, cousin Augustina Garcia nieces Lucia (Bob) Rivera Aragon and Martha (Matthew) Yarusso, and nephews George (Kathryn) Rivera and Juan Rivera, Maria (Eloy Trujillo), Cecilia Saldana Montana, Paul (Masumi) Rodriguez, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces/nephews, friends and loved ones. She maintained very close bonds with niece Maria Saldana: niece Frances Rivera and great niece Jenny Rivera Trujillo: great niece Monica Johnson and her children, Sean, Blaze and Jesse-Rose Avelina: great niece Deann (Matt) Pujol: great nephew Eric (Beverly) Martinez and family: great niece Stephanie (Herb) Cork: and very dear family friend Rosa Orozco. Viewing and Rosary will be held at St Mary Help of Christians Church 307 East Mesa Avenue at 9:30 am on Saturday October 29th, 2016 the Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 10:00am. Interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Pueblo Animal Services 4600 Eagleridge Blvd Pueblo, CO 81008 or the Charity of your choice
