Eula Mae (Brooks) Godfrey

Eula Mae (Brooks) Godfrey, 97, has gone to live in eternity with her Lord Jesus. She passed September 20, 2024 in Pueblo. Eula Mae was born March 13, 1927, in Canon City, Colorado and graduated from Centennial High School in Pueblo. She married 2nd Lieutenant Albert Godfrey Dec. 16, 1945. They were married for 75 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert; brother and sister-in-law, Mearl and Anny Brooks; brother, Alvin Brooks; and son-in-law, Patrick Fagan. Survived by her sister, Pat Endsley; children Kathy (Roger) Samuels, Lynnette (Eric) Goldy, and Tammy Fagan; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and five great, great grandchildren. What a legacy! Eula Mae was a homemaker. She loved boating and fishing with Al at Blue Mesa and Pueblo Reservoir, road travels to South Carolina, Kansas and Oregon to visit relatives, and snowbirding for a few winters in Arizona. She enjoyed her home, loved her family, and together with her husband was an active member of Pueblo Christian Center where she grew in her relationship with Christ through bible study and made many friends. Eula Mae was always a prayer warrior, but especially when macular degeneration robbed her vision and she could no longer enjoy other activities. Listening to books on tape, Guideposts, and the Bible helped to occupy her time. All her life she loved giving gifts and sending cards to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In the last two years, Eula Mae lived at Cappella Assisted Living Community and loved all the ladies there who cared for her in so many compassionate ways. Her daughters are grateful for each of them who went above and beyond their job requirements to brighten her day. (You know who you are!). Eula Mae was always interested in people’s lives and remembered everything about them! Having family and others come to see her meant so much and the great-grandchildren’s visits brought her joy! She recently joined Majestic Baptist Church and felt the love and compassion from the visits of Pastor Scott Bailey and some of the women and deacons. In the recent past, she was cared for by Abode Hospice. The family wishes to thank everyone at Abode and especially Richelle, Angela, Laura and Dr. Bullock for being so loving and caring. Memorial and reception will be held at Majestic Baptist Church, 494 E. Hemlock, Pueblo West on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
