DeVon Erick Vallejos

DeVon Erick Vallejos was born on October 19, 1997 at 7:02 AM in Pueblo, CO. He passed away on September 29, 2024 at the age of 26. DeVo is survived by his parents, Kevin and Erica Vallejos; brother, Nikko Vallejos; grandparents, Larry and Dorothy Vallejos; grandfather, Larry (Jenny) Miller; uncles and aunts, Bryan (Eloyda) Vallejos, Holly (Steven) Martinez, Jessica (David Buck) Groves, Kelly (Karl) Potestio, Jamie Groves, Jennifer Vallejos, Nino Randy Vigil; numerous cousins and other cherished family as well as many, many friends and friends that are family, Kittens Jasper and Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Linda and Gary Groves, grandma, Janet Miller; nina, Sherry Vallejos; cats Tiger and Mannus; numerous cousins, cherished family and friends. DeVon was a 2016 graduate of John Mall School in Walsenburg, CO where he grew up. DeVon lettered in many sports, however his favorite times were when he was playing football. DeVon loved his hometown and was currently a teacher at Peakview School and a football coach at Walsenburg JR/Sr High, in his 4th year working at Huerfano Re-1 School District. He was a natural with the students and loved working with them. DeVo has his associates degree in Criminal Justice and was returning to school to pursue his degree towards teaching with an emphasis in school psychology. He was planning to later return his focus back towards Criminal Justice and pursue a career in law enforcement working towards detective. DeVon loved the water, boating and swimming, animals, shooting pool, and entertainment. He had a deep love for movies and music. He developed his artistic talent in rap music, which he performed at multiple shows. He changed his focus from rap toward his career goals of teaching and working out. He was a treasured son and brother. He was incredibly funny, quick with a quip and a bright, contagious smile, always said he loved you and was quick to end his conversations with “much love, I appreciate you, God Bless. His laugh was special and will be remembered by all those who knew him. DeVon made an impact everywhere he went, with a smile and energy that would light up a room. Special thanks to Huerfano Re-1 School District, Walsenburg Sand and Gravel, Family, Friends, and the Community of Walsenburg for all of the love and affection that has been displayed for DeVon. We know he is in heaven and that his heart is full with all of the love. Viewing was held on October 4th, 2024 with DeVon’s immediate family. There will be a Celebration of Life and reception for DeVon on his birthday, Saturday, October 19th, 2024 at 3PM at the Walsenburg Community Center. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates everyone's love and support.
