David Lance Fuller

Dave was born in Emporia, Kansas and grew up there. Emporia is a town of about 30,000 people, and a small town teaches you to love your neighbor and help them. This lesson shaped so much of what he would do throughout his life. His family vacationed in Colorado where he loved skiing and cool weather. As an adult, his job brought him back and now the rest of the story…. Here he settled and had a family and that became his top priority for the rest of his life. His love was doing things with his family like hiking, skiing, sailing, and sports. The sports consisted of baseball, basketball, volleyball, hockey, football and soccer and he especially loved these sports when his children or grandchildren were playing! Traveling with the family also was fun for him. He enjoyed visiting relatives where ever they lived, east coast, west coast and Australia. Vacations took him to the Caribbean Islands, Honduras, Costa Rica, Belize, and Hawaii. His traveling also included going on mission trips to help people after they were hit with a disaster. With River of Grace mission team, he traveled to Joplin, Missouri, Moore, Oklahoma, and Bolivia. He didn’t just help away from home, he also helped the people of our community. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 18 years, built homes with Habitat for Humanity, raked yards with Rake up Pueblo, and helped his beloved church family at Central Christian Church and River of Grace. He loved his church family and made sure newcomers felt welcomed. In addition to all of this, he loved Lisa’s classroom and often went to read, Oh, the Places You’ll Go to the children on Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Plus, when springtime came, he enjoyed introducing the kids to “Casey at the Bat” and Abbott and Costello’s “Who’s on First”. Lisa had to draw a baseball diamond on the board, so they could follow the story. He loved to help her students read and learn math facts. Another love in his life was the Emmaus Community and the Walk to Emmaus retreats. He was a pilgrim on Walk 120 and helped ever since. His last walk was this April, Walk 174, in Flagler, Colorado. We want to also mention how he enjoyed the Denver Performing Arts and the musical productions. The first musical he saw was “Phantom of the Opera” and his favorite was “Les Miserables”. Last, but not least, the Colorado Rockies were his team!! He started following them their inaugural year, 1993. Soon after, he followed them to Spring Training every March in Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona. He went this last March to see them and caught a Nascar Race, rooting for Clint Bowyer, a hometown boy. Dave was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, umpa, uncle and friend to many. Dave was a Christian and believed in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. It is this faith and the peace that surpasses all understanding that maintained us these last 3 years.
