Bernice Katherine Krasovec

Bernice Katherine Krasovec passed away peacefully on January 10th, 2023, in Pueblo Colorado. She was born August 8, 1928, to Mike and Mary Hiza. She is predeceased by her parents, twin sister MaryAnn, and brother Michael Jr. Bernice was devoted to her family, her church, and her community. She was an author of two children’s books, the Curator of the Gornick Slovenian Library, Museum and Genealogy Center and founder of the St Mary’s Prayer Garden. She was a faithful member of KSKJ, Slovenian Union of America, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Her heritage and love for God and family was built to share. She was a dedicated volunteer - always showing up to help the church, her family, and the community. She loved flowers - especially her roses and was a blue-ribbon winner for her Potica. She was an avid writer and never missed sending a poem to her husband and children on Valentine’s Day. Her smile and her positive attitude carried her through all times, and it opened hearts and allowed people to see the goodness of life. As a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend she will always be remembered as a woman of few words -saying “Thank You” for the smallest task and a reminder to “go with the flow.” Bernice married Rudolph Krasovec Sr., in 1948 and had 51 loving years together before his passing (1999). Her legacy includes her 7 children - Kathy (Doug) Chrisman, Pueblo, CO; Rudolph (Elizabeth) Krasovec Jr, Pueblo, CO; Mary Jane (Ron) Davies, Littleton, CO; Bernadette (Andy Hahn), Canon City, CO; Karyl Krasovec, Overland Park, KS; Eileen (Vince) Perez, Pueblo, CO; and Gina (Jay) Parsons, Overland Park, KS and 13 grand & 14 great-grandchildren John (Diann) Chrisman, Martin (Michelle) Chrisman, Reverend Michael Chrisman, Joe (Katie) Chrisman, Mary Kay Chrisman, Renee (Brian) Zakavec, Brittany Davies, Meggie (Tony) Italiano, Megan (Chris) Cardenas, Jason Wiley, Angela (Chris) Newman, Olivia Parsons, and Jillian Parsons. Her great-grandchildren are Martin Chrisman, Isabelle (Donny) Gonzalez, Jacob Chrisman, Annie, Paul, Nicolas, and Cecilia Chrisman, George Zakavec, Madeline, Connor, and Harper Cardenas, and Claire and William Newman. Our sincere thank you to the amazing staff at Cappella in Pueblo West and to the team at the Sangre de Cristo Hospice House. Viewing will be held on Saturday, January 14th, from 3pm-5pm at Roselawn Funeral Home, 1706 Roselawn Rd, Pueblo, CO 81006. A Rosary will be held on Sunday, January 15th, at 3pm at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church (St Mary’s Prayer Garden), 217 E Mesa Ave, Pueblo, CO 81006. The Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday, January 16th, at 10am at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, 217 E Mesa Ave, Pueblo, CO 81006, followed by burial at Roselawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Prayer Garden or Joni Fair Hospice House, 1107 Pueblo Blvd Way, Pueblo, CO 81005.
