Barbara A. Spaccamonti

Barbara A. Spaccamonti, 75, was born on January 21, 1949, in Hayes, Kansas and went home to the Lord on March 26, 2024, in Pueblo, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Evelyn Huser; sister, Paula Huser; and mother-in-law, Imogene J. Hughes. Barb is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Jim Spaccamonti; children, Lori (Xavier) Saccamanno, Steve (Nicole) Eller, and Jim (Aubrey) Spaccamonti; grandchildren, Rylan, Shayla, Ariana, Zachary, Alexander, Collette, and Mia; father-in-law, James Spaccamonti; “Aunt Snooks” Hathaway; and siblings, Fred (Rhonda) Huser, Marie (Bill) Wasinger, and Bern (Marylynn) Huser. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. When she was young, Barbs family owned the Coca Cola Bottling Plant where she would clean glass bottles as a little girl, and she enjoyed working on cars. After receiving her Master’s in Journalism from the University of Oregon, she went on to become the first woman to start a newspaper in Eugene, Oregon. She was also the Director of Information for the City of Pueblo, Pueblo Community College and Swedish Medical Center in Denver, as well as the Director of Junior Achievement. Barbara was also the very first Director of Advertising and Marketing for the Pueblo Mall. Her further accolades include being a Counselor for the Philmont Scout Ranch and she was a Marketing Director for Stitch & Sew. Among her busy schedule she was able to spend a lot of time cooking delicious meals for her family and organizing family get togethers. Barb loved being in the kitchen so much that she would bake specially made cakes for everyone’s birthdays and sometimes other occasions, each one more delicious than the last. She would make homemade Italian Sausage and make and bottle her own wine. She loved to write and even became a copywriter for several prominent politicians, but no one more important than her husband, Jim. She was always present for her children, by attending all of their sporting events and being the best mom, anyone could ask for. Barb and Jim lived a wonderful life together, full of love and adventure. They loved taking trips to many places in Europe, they visited Denmark, London, Rome, and Frankfurt. They had the time of their lives on an Alaskan Fishing trip, she genuinely loved life. She loved to travel so much that she even took a girl’s trip to New York City with her daughters-in-law, they had a blast and made lots of fun memories. She would spend a lot of time with her grandkids too, she was their babysitter, and they loved the time they were able to spend with her. Most important to Barbara was her faith. She was very involved with St. Joseph Catholic Church and spent several years serving and organizing fundraisers for their events. She loved the Lord and gave that love to her family and friends alike. Barbara was truly an amazing, funny and strong woman, and she will be forever loved and deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
