Anthony M Venuto

Anthony Michael Venuto, 91, of Pueblo passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026. Waiting for him in heaven were his beautiful wife Joan, parents, Tony and Lucy Venuto, brother, Donald Venuto, his mother and father-in-law Pete and Mary Maurello, brother-in-law, John Lane, and sisters-in-law Margie Lane and Theresa Aronson. He leaves behind his three children Nick (Caine) Venuto, Pete (Cindy) Venuto, and Christianne (Sam) DeNardo. He was blessed with five grandchildren and 1 great grandchild whom he cherished with all his heart. Kristina (Marion) Brawley, Kendra (Collin) Gibbs, Jenna (Nick) Juhl, Samantha DeNardo, Michael DeNardo, and Brooklyn Gibbs. He also leaves behind his brother Michael (Janice) Venuto and brother-in-law, Carl (Angelica) Aronson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Anthony was born June 9, 1935, in Pueblo, Colorado. He attended Pueblo Central High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving from 1954 to 1958 while stationed in San Diego. He married the love of his life in January 1958 and celebrated 61 years of marriage before Joan passed away in 2019. Together they returned to Pueblo to build their life close to family. He retired from CF & I after working 40 years. An avid sports fan, he spent years helping his brother-in-law coach basketball. His greatest joy, however, was on the sidelines for his family; attending every single sporting event involving his kids, nieces, nephews, and grandkids. He was truly their greatest fan and enjoyed every single minute of supporting them. He was also a lifelong Denver Broncos fan, sharing a treasured 35-year tradition of attending games with his son, Nick. After retirement, he embraced fly fishing as a new hobby with the help of his brother-in-law and nephews. Their annual fishing trip to Marble, Colorado with family and friends became a tradition with fishing, barbecuing, and telling fish tales by the campfires. He especially enjoyed his grandkids. He loved playing with them and throwing them in the air when they were little and watched them grow up and follow their dreams with pride. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. Whether they were heading to Las Vegas, California or off on another adventure those trips were great memories. Yet, despite his love for sports and family trips, his everyday routine was simple and quiet. He enjoyed his coffee with a piece of pie or a twinkie and would spend hours reading the newspaper and would watch either a John Wayne movie or Gunsmoke. He was a member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church and lived a faith filled life. Our family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to our home health care team, and Abode Hospice for their compassionate care, patience, and guidance throughout our dad’s journey. We will be forever grateful. While we may curse Alzheimer disease as it slowly stole our dad, uncle and grandpa from us over the last seven years it gave us time with him that we might never have shared otherwise. The care we provided our dad gave him the opportunity to stay at home and gave us new memories with him of both laughter and tears. Our regrets are few and those memories will be cherished for a lifetime. In memory of our dad, please join us in celebrating his life by wearing bright colors. A memorial mass will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 10 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Inurnment, Roselawn Cemetery.
